Gran Canaria is one of the most popular places in Europe for gay men to go on holiday. The weather certainly helps but so does the fact that there are gay (naked) beaches, the dunes to frolic in and the large number of bars and restaurants that are situated mainly in one shopping centre (don’t be alarmed, it’s not as bad as it sounds). The best time to go is during the European winter. During our summer it is a lot quieter (some places even close down) because it can be extremely hot, it’s the school holidays (i.e. avoid like te plague) and also because there are enough European destinations where you can get gay summer sun (e.g. Sitges, Mykonos, Ibiza, Berlin - honestly, check it out.)

Gay life is pretty much centred on the Yumbo centre, with a smaller number of, mainly German, bars at the Cita Centre.
