Remember, you don’t come to Gran Canaria for its cuisine, but if you want a full traditional English breakfast then sausage and chips for lunch and steak pie and mash for dinner then it’s the perfect place. Well Plaza is. Nice easy food, nice (if cheeky) easy staff. Just remember to ask what they haven’t got on the menu – it will save time. And don’t be surprised if you get sausage instead of bacon or tea instead of coffee – especially before midday.

If you want something a bit different then just wander round the Yumbo centre. There are several gay restaurants (e.g. Bei Lelo – German) as well as the usual mix of steak, pizza joints and Chinese restaurants.

Even after a night in the bars and clubs you can still rely on the Yumbo to provide – Old London (Burgers, Pizzas etc) on the ground floor, and, on the way up to the taxis there is a kebab place.
